Fantasias Big Night, minus Fantasia: Ok first off…yay, Fantasia wins her 1st Grammy after being nominated 11 times in the past. So I’m proud of her. But my excitement isn’t lasting very long. Let me tell ya’ll why. She calls into BET‘s 106 & Park with Rocsi and Terrence and basically lets them know why she wasn’t at the awards. In a nutshell she didn’t go because she was upset that she wasn’t doing the tribute to Aretha Franklin….WAIT, WHAT? That’s right!! Fantasia boycotted the Grammy’s because she was not asked to be apart of the tribute to Aretha Franklin. Now let’s stop and think about this for a minute. Because something about this is just a little bit off….Pondering….Pondering! She was feeling some kind of way about the show and about the tribute because she felt like she should’ve been a part of it. Is anyone else feeling like there is a little too much ego here… (Ok maybe it’s just me.)
Call from Fantasia to BET 106 & Park: “I’m going to be very honest with you. You know I wasnt at the Grammys last night, I’m kind of going through my own little thing…last night they were honoring someone who is my idol, Aretha Franklin, and there is no way I could have sat there and not got the happy feet and wanting to jump on the mic because she is my favorite so I felt like, you know, at the end of the day I should have been on that stage so, I kind of did my own little thing last night.”
Wow “she is my favorite so I feel like, you know, at the end of the day I should have been on that stage.” Wow! really Fantasia? I’m sure she didn’t mean it to sound that way. But you can’t help but give her the stale face and slow blink and you can’t forget the side eye. She’s giving off the vibe that just because she likes Aretha and has as good a voice, she is entitled to perform for her. Just because you likes Aretha Franklin, I’m pretty sure doesn’t cement you a performance spot honoring her.
I feel like this is something she should have kept to herself. She should have sucked it up and attended the awards. And since she won, she should have been there to accept her FIRST Grammy win. That’s not a moment that she can ever have back. And it’s not like she had a prior engagement, or was working during the awards. Home girl was sitting at home watching the awards.
“I watched Cee-lo’s performance, I love Cee lo, love Gaga, watched Gaga, and I love Rihanna’s performance, but I kind of cooked and did my own thing last night and was in my own world and was hoping that I won. I have this feeling, like every year I go, I feel like they always look over some of the good singers that are still around and I’m not trying to be funny but that’s just the way I felt, so I didn’t get into it like I usually do, I wasn’t there, so you know I caught only some performances, Cee-Lo was one of my favorites I love, Love, love.”
I know this is super random, but I felt the need to talk about it. Fantasia should have been at the Grammy point blank- period.
