The Fizz in KIA’s Pop

Pop, Pop, Fizz, Fizz, oh what a relief this one is. Finally there’s something to relieve my nausea over these funky, not in a good way, electric alien pods. Why does electric and subcompact have to be ugly? Where Botox and augmentations to make a living organism ever more visually pleasing is a reality, why can’t they design visually pleasing cars? Well Kia said, “yes we can”. The Kia Pop looks like it came straight out of Final Fantasy or some soon to be imagined high Tech, Pop New Generation Sci-Fi movie. It looks a lot like monochrome sunglasses.

A lot of these cars look alike, and the electric subcompact cars often look like little mini golf cars, however this ingenious design pops right out at you. The car looks and feels more spacious due to the open design. Much like a confined room looks and feels unrestricted when windows span all four walls. The design team applied this same concept to the Kia Pop. The front windshield continues seamlessly overhead to the rear of the car. When I first spotted this car, I immediately thought “lollipop”. Kia actually picked the perfect name, because it looks very sweet, delicious and quite stimulating; those little dots—effervescent. I want to hang it on my wall.

I’m sure all the women will love it. It is most definitely unique. Now I haven’t heard spectacular things about Kia. I mean, I don’t think they had a good resale value. I’m not going to mean here, I’m still feeling bubbly, I just hope this artistic passion flows over to performance, to the mechanics. I mean looks aren’t everything—right? Let’s see if the Kia Pop has some substance. It s overall length is 3000mm (9.8 ft) long and 1740mm(5.7 ft) wide. It can reach top speeds of 87 mph. It has an 18 kWh lithium-polymer battery which can be charged in 6 hours using a 230 volt outlet and just 30 minutes using a higher voltage. The one charge can take you 100 miles. You get quite an impressive amount of leg room in this vehicle. It has an animated touch screen which controls climate, navigation, Bluetooth, audio, and it’s all very animated. Let’s hope this one is affordable. If not I’ll just have to hang the pic on my wall, isn’t that what pop-art is for.
