St Kitts: Head Out To The Beach

The first place you want to go is the beach. Right? There are several private hotel beach fronts. If you stay at the Timothy Beach resort you will have the luxury of being at one of the most popular beaches, Frigate Bay South. There’s a lot to do on that beach front. I remember seeing several people pass by with various water sports equipment. The name of the company is Mr. X water Sports and they pretty much cater to everyone; Snorkeling tours, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, etc. There are rocks at each end of the beach which provide a good haven for aquatic life– ideal for snorkelers.

The sand is a light golden color and the waves are not rough, there’s a nice wind to take your sail but no dangerous tides. South Friars Bay is on the Southeast Peninsula, it is also a calm and somewhat more tranquil beach front than Frigates Bay. If Laying and relaxing is your thing then that’s the place be. Whitehouse Bay is a bit rocky, but the brilliant blue waters against the back drop of green foliage and rocks are stunning. You can snorkel and take a boat out. It’s also a great place to discover old artifacts and remnants; however they ask you kindly not to remove any artifacts as they are working on a survey project to locate some very old shipwrecks from the 1700’s. Major’s Bay and Banana Bay at the tip of the Southeast Peninsula are great getaways from the crowd.

Banana Bay is picture perfect, romantic in every way. Most of these beaches have beach bars so you don’t have to go back to your hotel to get something to drink. They are building all the time and the hotels are often renovating, which would be another important factor to know before staying anywhere. My sister was in a beautiful resort that unfortunately was under construction– they didn’t tell and she hadn’t research. One night the lights and electricity went out and a surge came through, while she was curling her hair. She lost one whole lock of hair that night, no kidding; they tried to reimburse her with a free salon visit. I don’t know if that included a wig or not. Anyway construction barriers and constant clanking and drilling while you’re trying to sip on a colada can be quite disturbing after a while.
