Okay, I spoke to soon; this wins best looks for an electric sports car, hands down. There were others I had the pleasure of viewing but these were primarily drafts, concepts on paper, because this machine is not a concept anymore, it fast-forwards straight to the best looking category. Renaults, DeZir, Oh my, the name alone is beautiful, now look at that car. The DeZir will debut in the 2011 Paris Auto show. It boasts 150 horsepower which is an equivalent of (110kW). It is rated 167 lb-ft torque. It can move from 0 to 60 in 5 seconds flat. It’s fast but a few others less racy electrics have it beat by almost one second. Okay, let’s not trifle a second over that.
Let’s focus on what’s important, the battery. You can’t move slow or fast if you’re immobile. The DeZir has some sort of Kinetic Energy Recovery System which recuperates and also stores braking energy, you can launch this system from the gadgetry steering wheel. It gets an 80% charge in just 20 minutes using a 400 volt outlet. They used designs from both aircraft fighters and racing cars. You have to give credit to Laurens Van den Acker, head of the DeZir design team. His concept of movement, falling in love and endurance has spilled over into a lovely potent red, reliable machine.
It’s beautiful and you instantly fall in love with it, later you discover, once you get in it only gets better after time. It’s extremely light weight due to its construction of Kevlar body panels. It has no rear window, uhm, strange but they can’t sell you a car if you can’t see. So they have provided two rear-facing cameras with a sweeping panoramic view of the back. I’m warning you, If you take a peek inside you might pass out. At first looks the car is overwhelming but the feeling lightens once you climb inside. The predominant color is white with a bit of red light illuminates through the cut out grooves in the front seats. DeZir’s interior designer, Stéphane Maiore equates the feeling to “floating on a cloud” Isn’t that what happens when you’re in love.
Renault also has its stylish Fluence all-electric. It will be priced at around $38,000 US dollars/$26,000 Euros. Renault will provide the consumer with a home charging unit. 83 mph(135km/h) The battery could last 50 miles at a traveling speed of 70 mph. We hope to see better battery life on the DeZir.. Renault is promising to debut its Fluence in 2011 as well. What’s great about Renault is that they’re actually thinking ahead of the game. They plan on building swap stations for extended journeys. The consumer will stop by one of the many stations for a quick unplugging of a depleted battery and plugging in a new one; just like a pit stop. They are currently in alliance with Better Place.
