Some hosts at Fox “News” will say something moronic every day. It is inevitable. Last week, it was Bill O’s turn. Bill O and the other bobbleheads at Fox hate the liberal watchdog, Media Matters. I can only assume the hate stems from Media Matters correctly pointing out their errors and misleading statements every day. Bill O had Fox host Megyn Kelly on his show on Thursday to discuss a paragraph in Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank’s latest article. Milbank discussed the Fox “News” election coverage and how it was mostly just one big victory dance.
In his column, he mentions Megyn Kelly’s coverage and has two small criticisms. Kelly’s mention was literally two lines. Apparently that was enough to fire up O’Reilly and causes him to put his “man pants” on. Big Bill told Kelly that “we should go beat him up,” referring to Milbank. He also displayed a picture of Fred Hiatt, the editor at Washington Post, and was ranting about how Hiatt needs to fire Milbank. The call to violence is terrifying. Yes, I know it was delivered in a jokey “I am your big brother and need to protect you” manner, but the message is still there. And with Bill O’s history – Dr. Tiller and O’Reilly fans’ penchant for violence – you would think he would know better. What is even scarier to me is the picture of Hiatt. I have no idea why Bill O put the picture up, but it was only missing the target on Hiatt’s face. It seemed that O’Reilly was suggesting violence.
Kelly tried to defend Milbank by saying he writes an opinion column. Bill O then said with a complete straight face and no sense of irony, “When you give an opinion, it can’t be based on a lie and can’t be taken out of context.” What? Does O’Reilly even watch his own station? That is the entire principle that Fox is based on. O’Reilly and Kelly also lament that Milbank used Media Matters as a source. Again….What? Fox News uses the least credible sources out there and never checks facts. Even when a story has been disproven, they will continue to report on their version of it. Acorn, the new Black Panthers, and Obama’s trip to India are just a few examples.
I can’t for the life of me figure out if O’Reilly really IS a great performance artist seeking ratings, or if he actually believes this drivel. Fox “News” has made a very good living, as the hosts constantly remind viewers, on reporting news with misleading information and giving opinions based on lies. That is what they do.
Bill O and friends hate Media Matters for that reason. Media Matters uses the Fox hosts’ own words to show others that they lie. During the segment with Kelly where O’Reilly talks about beating up Milbank, he then continues to obsess over Media Matters and how they will talk about his threat of violence. So it would seem that Media Matters is getting to O’Reilly. Now Bill O just has to “man up” and have someone from Media Matters on his show. Ha. Like that would ever happen.
I think Glenn Beck would love to have someone from media matters on his show. Honestly, I don’t think they would have the cajones to appear.
