Audi e-tron reminds me of the latest Tron movie. The motorcycle in the movie has the same kind of clean smooth curved lines. The e-tron radiates sexy and the broad grill which dominates the front exudes masculinity following an abrupt concaved front. The sides bow in slightly less dramatically. The lines are smooth inside and out. The e-tron is a fine two- seater with just enough power to compete with other not so polished electrics. The e-tron has a Lithium-ion battery pack that produces 313 PS(230 kW).It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (0-100 km/h)in 4.8 seconds; Then shifts from 37.28 to 74.56 mph (60-120 km/h) in under 4.1 seconds. So under 9 seconds, the needle will hit the 75 mph mark. It can reach speeds up to 124.7 mph (200 km/h), not a supercar but unless you’re on the autobahn, then this should suffice. Plus most on the autobahn aren’t flying by going 140 anyway.
The traveling distance for its battery pack is 154 miles. The charging time is an acceptable 6 to 8 hours on a 230 volt, but its high voltage plug-in capability is even better in about 2.5 hours, you’re on your way. When the vehicle is docked, it is automatically going to be charging. It’s like your cordless phone, which you place back in its base. The car will also continuously be charged when in motion. How is this possible? Through the breaking process, the alternator acts as a convertor of kinetic energy to electrical energy which is sent to the electrical system. You really need to go to their website www.audiusa.com and learn about their intricate breaking “by wire “system. Better still go to When it finally loads, and it takes a while, sit back and be entertained with great graphics, video and more. I love the websites conversation interface. If the interior display screen looks anything like that, then I’m going to to have to start saving.
This car practically talks to you. The headlamps aren’t your ordinary light post molded to a car. It’s an integrated automatic assistance system. Do you recall driving through fog, you realize you can’t see a darn thing; you fiddle with the primitive fog lights and high beams, to no avail. Well—fiddle no more. This headlamp system actually reacts to weather conditions. The Light assistance system also detects oncoming traffic and recognizes the lane you’re in. Inside there’s an integrated screen directly above the steering wheel– No need to look to the side. This screen will inform you of battery range, remaining battery power, and navigation/infotainment systems. The electric motors situated at the front and rear axles have their own cooling system and incredible torque, 4,500 Nm to be precise. Audis decision to eliminate cluttered buttons and knobs has paid off. The Inside looks minimalistically sophisticated. The inside reminds me a bit of the old Alfa Romero’s interior.
There is fine leather here and there; it’s simply classy. It’s definitely not a techie or pop culture vehicle. Audi is attempting to go a different route. I can see Bond in this one, when he’s trying to be overtly inconspicuous. Look for this one to be a show stopper, especially with the upcoming premiere of the high tech, high speed movie Tron, no relation to the car. From Now through December, Audio e-tron will be hitting the showroom floors. Oh, it seems I should have started saving when I was five, this one isn’t cheap. Gosh, It hurts me to say this but it is considered a high-end class vehicle, whatever! $109,000 to $140,000, What!!!. They need to bring the price down or get a move on making a more affordable one, The $47,000, 2011 Audi TTS looks just as sweet without electric batteries and motor, if those two items costs more than $70,000,their going to have have to revisit that drawing board. I want to save money with this new electric era, not have to sell my parents.
