We have to revisit Christine O’Donnell. In a crop of oddball candidates, she is the clearly emerging as the star. She is Palin times 20. She is frightening, not just in her beliefs but in the scary fact that she could surprise us all and win. Democratic senate nominee Chris Coons is only leading by 11 points at the latest poll. And as we have seen recently, that lead can disappear in a heartbeat.
A big factor in Coons shrinking lead is that O’Donnell is getting tons and tons of media attention. Granted, most is not good but you know what they say, any press is good press. The Republicans in general are very skilled at playing off the negative jabs. And her campaign is no exception. Oh well, she dabbled in Wiccan. But, she is a good “Christian” woman now. She is anti-masturbation. I guess that is a plus to Republicans. Maybe a little extreme but her heart is in the right place. Right? Women should not be in the military, condoms don’t stop HIV, and scientists are creating mice with full functioning human brains. Her list of untruths goes on and on.
I am not sure how her campaign explains them all away. But the point is; they can. Her campaign and the Republican arm at Fox News can ignore or justify any ridiculous comment she makes. And the public, they may just start to buy it. She is young and cute so many voters may forgive her wacky comments. She can speak better English than Palin so that gets her somewhere.
In a year of strange wins, if O’Donnell wins the Senate seat in Delaware, she will take the cake. The biggest upset of all. After the Witch comment was released last week, O’Donnell cancelled her media appearances that were scheduled for the weekend. She claimed she wanted to focus on events in her home state. Then what did she do? Of course, show up on a national cable show. But, it is just Fox. And her mentor, the aforementioned Palin, told her to use Fox to get her message out. And O’Donnell appears to be doing just that. She rakes in political donations, the majority not being in her home state. The right wing religious branch loves O’Donnell.
But O’Donnell has one major problem that doesn’t seem to go away. And it is a problem that her campaign cannot explain away. She has been accused twice recently of violating campaign finance laws. Very serious stuff. Earlier this month, the Delaware Republican Party filed a complaint with the Federal Elections Commission alleging that O’Donnell accepted illegal contributions from the Tea Party Express. On Monday, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington filed complaints with the FEC and the U.S. attorney in Delaware alleging that O’Donnell had violated the law by using campaign contributions for personal use, paying for gas, bowling, even the rent on her house. That is even more serious. There is no gray area here. No one can use campaign contributions for personal residences. Ever.
O’Donnell thus far has not really answered any questions about it, instead issuing a blanket statement, “I am confident that we have been ethical,” and further saying "I personally have not misused the campaign funds." But when reporters pressed further, she pulled a Sharron Angle and ran away. That doesn’t look good. Her former campaign manager alleges that O’Donnell lived off of campaign funds as well. Oopsy. I have no doubt that she will get out of this. Didn’t Palin have some pesky investigation following her around during her vice presidential bid? For candidates like Palin and O’Donnell, these things tend to roll right off their back.
So, we shall see what happens in November to Ms. O’Donnell. I wonder if she will make self love illegal. Or ban Halloween. Perhaps she will be able to investigate further and find out where those mice/human hybrids are kept. What is actually on her agenda? Oh boy, if she wins the election, then intelligence has lost. We have all lost.
An interesting attempt to tar and feather a candidate for office. However, you didn’t bring up one issue that voters care about. What about taxes? Healthcare? Out of control spending? You are more concerned about her views 20 years ago. Finally, don’t go spouting off like you know the answer to HIV is condoms. They are NOT. Do a simple Google search and you will find thousands of people infected while using condoms. Non-latex don’t work. Old latex doesn’t work. Misuse doesn’t work…at least your story is entertaining drama, if not fact.
It is clear that the writer is a product of public schools, based on her use of our language. The content is pure liberal fear, projection and unbridled hate. If these people weren’t so entertaining, I’d feel sorry for them.
Are you serious? Making “self-love” illegal? Oh, kinda like Michelle Obama wants to ban salt and make us all eat healthy.
Christine O’Donnell says she has her personal views, but that her guide as a legislator will be THE CONSTITUTION. You know, that document liberals pretend does not EXIST.
With all your nonsense about supposed ethical violations you forgot a few “facts”
Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics is a LEFTWING pressure group … they have no more credibility than Fox News would have in YOUR opinion.
Furthermore, did you not know that Joe Biden was fined $219,000 in 2008 after the election for campaign finance violations. Where was the outrage? Christine O’Donnell has not been charged or convicted of ANYTHING, so where is the “innocent until proven guilty”? Does that only apply to Democrats? And even after they’re guilty they’re innocent?
Finally, you should do some research on Palin. She ushered out the good-old-boys in Alaska, sending their corrupt bastard asses out the door. The so-called “ethics violation” you refer to was a frivolous charge filed by a lout protecting an abusive cop who tasered his own step-son and drove drunk while working as a state trooper.
The charge was DISMISSED. Palin has not been found guilty of ANY ethics abuses. She is squeaky clean, which is more than I can say for most of the tax cheats in the Obama administration.
Democrats have ruined Black culture with “progressive” programs that hurt Blacks. Join the Tea Party that wants both political parties banished.. Join with blacks, white, Asian and Hispanics that want to rule the government, not rule the people. Good luck and God bless.
