Obama, America and the World

Obama is still a pop star according to the latest polls. According to the Pew Global Attitudes Project which polled over 24,000 in more than 22 nations, Europe at least western, Europe, gives Obama the thumbs up. Germany has the greatest positive outlook regarding the trustworthiness of Obama at 90% and France is at a favorable 87%. Great Britain is third on the list of positive favor with 84%.

However the United States comes in at 65% believing that Obama would be beneficial to America’s foreign policies, especially international diplomacy. Most countries believe Obama handled the financial crisis well. Obama still continued to have a 70% rating as a person. Most Americans trusted him as a person and felt he was competent. All of this in the face of a decrease in approval ratings according to CNN’s opinion research poll. At least 46% of Americans did not approve of the way Obama handled the economic crisis and many domestic issues. At least most Americans felt he did not handle the financial crisis as well as they would have liked. His ratings were at 64% a month after he started his presidency.

Obama has traveled to several nations and has been welcomed with opened arms. He is favored by both young and old. This is mostly attributed to his Charisma and his eagerness to understand the resentments and angst of many people. He is a youthful president which knows and understands the importance of technology and influences that effect our youth around the world. So this makes him assessable to young people, down to earth and savvy, at least enough to seem capable of understanding were there coming from.

So how is America viewed as a whole by other nations? Well the French s favorability of the United States has climbed to 73% as opposed to 42% in 2008. The Chinese are at 58% up from 41% during the Bush administration. Kenya and Nigeria are at 94%.

So what hasn’t changed regarding how the world sees America? Well the Muslim countries such as Pakistan have dropped slightly too only 17% favorability. In turkey only 11% and Jordan is at 21%. Mexico’s ratings decreased substantially from 62% to 44% due to recently passed Arizona immigration law.

So all in all is Obama still seen favorably around the world? The answer is yes. Most African Americans still approve of him and most Americans regardless of color or social status trust him. Those with more to lose however have come down hard on his handling of the financial crisis and laws/bills affecting the profitability of small and big business. Even with the disapprovals of the decisions he’s had to make , he is a pop star like Kane West, Madonna and Lady Gaga ,God bless her little cone bras. I don’t like all the things they get up to, but they are damn good entertainers, which is their job and no matter what, they will always be revered as some of the pop stars of our time.
